Because of thinner housing: Moto Z2 Play saves on the battery

The battery life is perhaps not the first feature that manufacturers use to sell clientele and sell units. Nevertheless, nobody would like to have to run several times a day with their own smartphone to the outlet. In the upcoming Moto Z2 Play, Lenovo apparently would accept just the right.

The Moto Z Play of the past year is not a perfect smartphone, but it has become an all-round recommendation with a highlight: the battery life of the medium-class device is superb - as is also the test report. The Moto Z Play achieved impressive durations, especially with regard to its modular design and narrow design. With 7 millimeters, it is one of the thinner smartphones on the market, but Lenovo is not enough.

Moto Z2 Play only 6 millimeters thin

The successor is to continue the slimming diet and become once again noticeably narrower. For instance, Evan Blass, better known as @evleaks, reports on Venture Beat. In principle this is not bad, but for the now 6 millimeters deep design, Lenovo must also reduce the battery proportionally. Of the 3,510 mAh of the Moto Z Play, which were so impressed, only 3,000 mAh remain. The usage time spent by the manufacturer thus shrinks from 50 hours to 30 hours with the Moto Z2 Play.

Moto Mods: Expansion Modules for Moto Z and Moto Z Play in Hands-On
It should not be possible to get two days running. At least not without Moto Mod with Zusatzakku. This could mean that the two siblings mutually cannibalize themselves: the Moto Z Play is meanwhile already around 330 euros or occasionally even less to have.

Moto Z2 Play: Technical data slightly upgraded

Of course, the new Moto Z2 Play will have some improvements over the predecessor, so it is not. These are, however, at least technically marginal: from the Snapdragon 625 the Snapdragon 626 with a clock rate increased by about 200 MHz to 2.2 GHz. The storage units grow from 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of data storage to 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of data storage. Meanwhile, the display remains more or less unchanged: The basic data are, according to @evleaks still 5.5 inches and full-HD resolution.
